Past Chapter Presidents
Q: I don't really have the time, I don't know what I would get out of being a
member.
A: All of us members are employed and have outside interests besides being a Jaycee. Becoming
included in the Lehua Jaycees enhances each person's life a little differently. Any amount of
time is appreciated and well worth getting involved.

Q: I work nights and sometimes work on weekends and wouldn't be able to
attend many functions; I don't think I can join.
A: That is fine, we have a lot of members who are only able to attend a few projects a year. There
may be a function or event that sounds interesting to you and you are able to help at. It takes
each member to make things run smoothly and everyone has a specific talent that we can benefit
from. We appreciate any amount of time that you can donate.

Q: What does Jaycees stand for?
A: It stands for Junior Chamber. We are a chapter within the Hawaii Jaycees and part of a
network of chapters all over the nation and world. We are a professional group of young
individuals between the ages of 21-39.

Q: I don't know very many people in the Jaycees, only the person who recruited
me.
A: What a greater way to meet new friends! Almost every member started out the same way and
have met new friends within the chapter, state and across the country and world because of
Jaycees.

Q: What goes on at the monthly meetings?
A: We have an agenda with all of the different offices listed. Each officer on the Board of
Directors speaks about things going on in their specific area. We talk about upcoming events to
get people interested in attending and helping out.

Q: I only know of a couple of projects that you do for the community, I am not
really into doing all of that...
A: Each member can bring something different to the chapter. We rely on each individual to
close the circle in the chapter. The Lehua Jaycees are much more than just a community civic
group. We have events and projects that enhance your professional and personal life. We also
do projects to raise money to donate to back to the community and help charities. We usually
have some sort of a social at the end.

Q: What is a social?
A: A social is where members can get together just to network with one another. It is a more
relaxed and laid back time where everyone is encouraged to just have fun. There is no meeting
or agenda going on at that time.

Q: It seems like all the activities are the same every year.
A: We do run popular events each year based on demand and people that are active in that
particular event. We do run new events and are always looking for new and great ideas to add to
the projects we run. We would love to have input from everyone involved.

Q; I don't like to be in charge of anything...I don't think you would want me to
help.
A: As with anything in life, there are leaders and followers. Each project is planned before the
actual event. If you like to only help and not be in the leader position, that is fine. We need
everyone's help to make each project run efficiently.

Q: Where do we get the money to host events?
A: The Jaycees hold Management projects which is any event that we host to make money. We
have a few projects that we have each year, one specifically is the Springfest Carnival. The
money we raise goes to keep our chapter running monetarily.

Q: What does ID mean?
A: ID stands for Individual Development. This area of the Jaycees is developed to help enhance
your personal and professional life. We hold courses or events which help us to understand and
learn about new things!

Q: How can I find out more about what is going on?
A: You can check out our website: www.lehuajaycees.org for more information or check out our
sponsor chapter website www.hawaiijaycees.org  Each avenue you choose is packed with
information about all of our monthly events.
