The dream and purpose are clearly expressed in these words of the founder of Junior
Chamber, Henry Giessenbier:
"From within the walls of the soul of this organization, wherein the foundations of
character and citizenship are laid, I hope a message will come forth in the sometime of
tomorrow that will stir the people toward the establishment of a permanent and
everlasting world peace."
His dream and purpose for Junior Chamber was to offer the membership opportunities
that would build strong, positive characters and a sense of citizenship, not only of
communities, cities and countries, but of the world.
Established in 1920 to provide opportunities for young men to develop personal and
leadership skills through service to others, the Jaycees later expanded to include women,
reflecting the growing influence and leadership of women in America.
For the past 83 years, Jaycees have been a force for good in America and around the
world.
We really need new members, NEW BLOOD, to continue the work that we do for the
community.
The Junior Chamber of Commerce is a community service organization, but what makes
the Jaycee's different from other organizations is our emphasis on improvement of
personal and professional skills.

Members are between the ages of 21 & 39, so most of us know what it's like to be too
busy to take time to get involved, but by joining the Lehua Jaycee's you will be offered
the opportunities to be involved in the community when you have time and interest!

You will also meet lots of people like yourself, who are busy, fun people who want to
make a difference and do something meaningful in their spare time !
